How does a boat motor work

Dec 6, 2015

Do you know how does a boat motor work? It`s really magic for us to see a boat “flying” on the surface of the water, and the magic is in the boat motor. So, how does a boat motor work?

Generally speaking, the usual marine engine for boat is belongs to the category of low-speed machine, the speed of the engine is typically below 800rpm(certainly except the special high-speed boat). Because the marine engine should keep consist with the propeller, the speed of the propeller is about 600-800 rpm. Considering the matching efficiency value of the boat, too much higher engine speed is useless.

Other engine of the other large cargo ships or cruise ship are burning heavy oil (the worst oil). The engine is generally two stroke low speed machine, of course there are also have high power 4 stroke medium-speed machine, what`s more, the medium-speed machine commonly used as the auxiliary equipment used for power generation.

How does a boat motor work is easy to answer-the work of the diesel engine (the mainly boat motor is diesel engine) is consist of air intake, compression, expansion and exhaust, the four process constitute the work cycle.

How does a boat motor work? The first stroke-inlet is to put fresh air full of the cylinder. The second stroke is compression. The compression piston move from the below checkpoint to the up check point. The third stroke is burning inflation. At the beginning of the stroke, most of the fuel burning out in the combustion chamber. The last stroke is the exhaust stroke.
