What products come from crude oil?

Mar 3, 2016

Crude oil is oil,it is also known as "black gold".It is a kind of combustible material, it is composed of various hydrocarbons. It is dark brown or dark green, it is a sticky liquid or semi-solid.Oil storage in the upper parts of the earth's crust. It consists of a mixture of different hydrocarbons, its main components are alkanes, in addition to sulfur, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, vanadium and other elements in the oil.

What products come from crude oil?---Hydrocarbon of crude oil

There are many forms of hydrocarbon. The simplest hydrocarbon is methane (CH4), which is lighter than air. Long chains containing 5 and 5 carbon atoms are liquid. A very long chain is a solid, such as a wax or a tar.

What products come from crude oil?---paraffin wax

Chemical formula: CnH2n+2 (n is an integer, generally from 1 to 20)

   Straight chain or branched chain

At room temperature, according to the different molecules, there are two kinds of forms: gas and liquid.

Examples: methane, ethane, propane, butane, isobutane, pentane, hexane

What products come from crude oil?---Aromatic hydrocarbon

Chemical formula: C6H5-Y (Y is a long straight chain molecule connected on the phenyl ring)

Having one or more annular ring structure

Ring composed of six carbon atoms, carbon atoms bondings for bond

Generally liquid

Example: benzene, naphthalene

Naphthenic (Napthenes) or cycloparaffinic (Cyclalkanes)

Chemical formula: CnH2n (n is an integer, generally from 1 to 20)

Having one or more annular ring structure

The bonding between carbon atoms in the ring are single

Room temperature is generally liquid

Examples: cyclohexane, METHYLCYCLOPENTANE

What products come from crude oil?---olefin

Chemical formula: CnH2n (n is an integer, generally from 1 to 20)

Straight or branched chain molecules containing a carbon carbon double bond

In the form of liquid or gas

Examples: ethylene and butene and isobutene

What products come from crude oil?---Dienes and alkynes

Chemical formula: CnH2n-2 (n is an integer, generally from 1 to 20)

Linear or branched chain molecules containing two carbon carbon double bonds

In the form of liquid or gas

Examples: acetylene, butadiene
